FAA AIXM 5 Viewer

The AIXM 5 Viewer is an application developed by Luciad for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The goal of the application is to offer a free solution for quickly visualising AIXM 5.0 and AIXM 5.1 data.

The AIXM 5 Viewer provides 2D and 3D visualization. After loading any compliant AIXM 5 file, users can see the data mapped onto a virtual earth, customize the visualization, navigate through the wide set of properties of AIXM 5 features, compare multiple features, and play back the state of data at concrete time positions according to AIXM 5’s extensive temporality model. Additionally the application supports the visualization of image data in the GeoTIFF format and vector data in the SHP format. Combined with an intuitive, easy-to-learn User Interface and a web-based one-click installation process, the AIXM 5 Viewer allows users to efficiently view and manage aeronautical information.
The AIXM 5 Viewer is delivered as a Java Web Start application. You can start it by opening the AIXM Viewer launch page (see link below) and clicking on the Launch button that corresponds to your configuration. Please also read the User Manual.

Note that access to the AIXM Viewer is restricted: only available for the AIXM Forum members! However, AIXM Forum membership is free and open to all stakeholders. Please see the "Join the AIXM Forum" link below.
AIXM Viewer Launch page - only available for AIXM Forum members(requires user id/password, please use the same as for the AIXM Forum).
Acrobat User Manual The AIXM 5 Viewer manual, explaining the essential functions of this application.
Zip Sample data - Chicago Some sample data (airport mapping data for the O'Hare Intl Airport - Chicago and some airspace around). Please keep in mind that this data is for demo purpose only, not to be used for operations! However, probably the most interesting is to use the Viewer with your own AIXM 5 data!
More sample data Additional AIXM 5.1 sample data is available through the AIXM Wiki.
